I attended Whittier College where I earned a B.A. in business administration. I later earned my teaching credential with CLAD emphasis through the UCLA urban intern program and later earned my M.S. in educational administration from Pepperdine University.
Experience
I am a fully credentialed teacher with 12 years of experience in a self contained classroom teaching all elementary subjects. I specialized in reading intervention strategies for students reading below grade level. I have been trained in following the best practices for literacy instruction and was a trainer for other teachers providing demonstration lessons in literacy. My focus in teaching is to allow the student to construct meaning for themselves so they take ownership of the new learning. I will often try to use various methods of teaching, such as incorporating music or art, to convey lesson ideas. One on one tutoring allows me to tailor instruction to the student's learning style and needs.
