Hello! I am a Biola University alumni with a bachelor's degree in Intercultural Studies and a teaching certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I also have minors in Biblical Studies and Islamic studies. I have been teaching and tutoring English for over two years now and have two main areas of expertise: ESL and writing. With my TESOL Certificate , I am specifically trained to teach English to individuals who speak something other than English as their first language. This includes teaching pronunciation, grammar, listening, speaking, reading and writing. While completing my TESOL Certificate at Biola I also specifically focused on the skill of writing. Writing is one of the most important forms of communication in our society and having excellent writing skills is especially important if one wants to succeed in the world of academia. Because of my passion to help others communicate their thoughts to the world, my second area of expertise is academic writing. Because everyone needs to be able to write, my writing tutoring services are very extensive. Whether you are an international 8th grade student wanting help with English writing, or a senior Psychology major who needs help with a senior thesis, I have the training and experience needed to help you succeed. While completing my TESOL Certificate at Biola University I knew I could go on to teach in a formal school setting. However, it became very clear to me that tutoring was the route I wanted to go. I love being able to work one-on-one with students and customize lesson plans specifically for them. Every individual has different needs, different learning styles, and different background experiences. My goal as a tutor is to take into account each of these parts of a student and view them holistically so that I can best help them achieve their specific goals.
